Should I turn old drums or buy new?
Assuming the old drums have enough meat on them to turn shouldn't they be better than the foriegn made stuff at the auto parts store.

Re: Should I turn old drums or buy new?
If the drums on my truck had been OK, I would have gotten them turned and used them no question. Got them measured at the NAPA store, no joy. New ones seem fine, Raybestos I think.

Believe it or not, the old metal really isn't as stellar as everyone believes. That said, cheap $10 drums from Autozone are likely inferior. Get some decent ones by Raybestos or Delco and they'll likely be better.
It it were me though, I'd turn the old ones assuming there's meat left. |

I think the Raybestos stuff is foreign made but I've used it on other cars without a problem.

Re: Should I turn old drums or buy new?
I had to beat on them pretty hard they wouldn't come off.I ended up having to apply some heat from a torch to get them off. I wont be using the old ones after that.I priced them at the local Napa and was shocked they are actually cheaper than the other parts stores! The only thing I noticed from looking at the picture of it at the parts store is there is no hole to make the adjustments. Isn't that hole needed or is there some way of adjusting it with out the hole? Thanks

According to this there are no American made rotors anymore.
