Re: New 1972 Blazer k5 Highlander

Its a promo-package white Highlander with a blue plaid interior and a single wall top. Those SPIDs that list "Highlander Plaid" had that trim ordered separately and likely account for those in the first half of the MY. The promo bundled options at a savings to the buyer over purchasing those options individually and was on offer later in the MY. Nice buy - please consider posting more pics to the plaid K5 thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=635033

Welcome aboard. What are your plans for the Blazer?

Pete

Plan to mostly restore it. What is the MY? Single wall top supposed to? Did they have many different tops? Was all white special? Was there any good options mine did not come With? Power Windows? I was excited to find truck and then even more when I saw cool options. I gave 6.4k for it.

Re: New 1972 Blazer k5 Highlander

MY means model year. The single wall top was a late 71 to 72 only option. The earlier Blazers and Jimmys got double wall tops. Power windows were not available from the factory. The steering wheel on yours look like it's from a later model. Is the horn button round or square?

Some of the other available options were locking differential, skid plate, tilt wheel, tachometer. I wouldn't get too hung up about those. Even without them it looks like you've got a nice truck. How's the sheet metal?

Oh, and welcome to the board.

It has looking diff. Tilt wheel. And tach. Double wall sounds better. Is It? Rear hatch has a crack. Hard to fix? Were tops usually white? I need to check on skid plate.

It’s a single wall which is in my opinion a better top. Cracks aren’t really hard to fix. One thing to note the top isn’t regular fiberglass it’s a material called smc if you do fix it. Tops were mostly white. There are some black ones. I just ordered a set of highlander covers from truck seats. They aren’t cheap but the option is hard to find and one of the coolest looking in my opinion.
