Oem stereo problem

Wondering if there is a known cure for this without getting a new stereo. Sometimes while listening to the radio it's as if one of those "loudness" switches gets pushed and the sounds coming out of the front speakers is very distorted. I thought it was the original speakers possibly being blown and replaced them with some Rockford fosgates, but it still happens. It's like the radio has a mind of its own, it will do it in the middle of a song and then get back to normal again without me touching any buttons. Anyone else ever have this and find a solution? The truck is an 88 suburban and it's the stereo with the tape deck.

May be a loose solder connection on that button?!

I don't see a loudness button there, but maybe a good idea to check the wires on the back of the radio. I can try that next time I'm in the dash.

Re: Oem stereo problem

Doesn't seem to matter. I change stations and it stays that way for a while then goes back to normal. It's a distorted sound, almost like the bass is turned up too far, but I have a control for that and it's working fine and kept low. I have noticed it starts happening sometimes when I hit a bump so I'm wondering if there must be an open wire somewhere. It is the same type of sounds through all 4 speakers though. I doubt these came with an amplifier that would be coming in and out.
