Aftermarket Column Swap?
I have reviewed few threads here on column swap, what is unclear to me is how the top end of column is secured? Bottom goes through firewall and is clamped to bracket, but top OEM column was bolted on, new column has no such bolts. Perhaps a hose clamp, but seems real "shade tree"; Any other options? Something more nice?

Looks like the aftermarket ones has a bracket that goes on the column. Then bolts where the stock one went.

My top end is secured with the mounting plate from the original column. I just slid it in and bolted the plate back in place securing the column.

Agree it secures the column from dropping, what about twisting? Or is that not an issue? Or does the firewall one do the work?

The lower steering column bracket at the base of the dash seems to keep the entire column in place and does not move up or down or from side to side.

Here's how I mounted my Ididit Retro column. I drilled and installed nutcerts where I needed for the upper mount for the dash bracket. I saw some of the newer Ididit columns that have a sliding nutcert to make things easier. The firewall mount is a stainless T-bolt clamp.

Don't cheap out on steering components,your life (and anyone on the road with you) depends on it. With that said, i purchased a flaming river column for my 61 that was a "bolt in" easy swap. It came with steering shaft and a universal joint that did away with the old rag joint,really nice setup. Purchased from forumn sponsor Mcb matt for just a little over $500. The paintable stainless column was shipped quickly and was of good quality(made in USA). Im very happy with my decision to go with Flaming River. Not an ad but just wanted to give credit where it was due,Bo.

I just commented on your YouTube video about your door seals and using contact cement, but that going with the newer push-on style seals is the better solution now.
I used 4 bolts to secure the column to the upper bracket under the dash. You circled two of them, the other two are further down. The two bolts you circled under the dash, helps secure and locate the brake/clutch pedal housing bracket mount to the dash. Quote:
