WTB 72 350 engine or even better bare block

WTB 72 350 engine or even better bare block.
Turns out my super nice K5 4x4 has a 77-78 block in it.
I want to get it as close are original if I can find a block.
I assume these came with 4 bolt mains?
Anyway I would buy a whole engine or just a block.
Obviously I need it in usable condition and prefer it not to have
been bored already but I know that is asking a LOT.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions if you have one let me know. PG

Re: WTB 72 350 engine or even better bare block

I just bought a 72 GMC Jimmy that was told still has the original engine. PO told me it ran when he parked it. If interested let me know and I can check the numbers. It would be shipping with Fastenal if you have one close. A transfer case was about 150 a couple of years ago would guess the engine would be a little more than that.

Not to "jack" the thread but just looked at website "nastyZ28" and that engine seems to de-code to:

V--Flint built
1--Chevrolet
I 15--Sept 15th engine build perhaps?
TDR-- 1972 Conventional Cab, K10 or K20 with 175 HP 4 BBL carb

Not sure about the "I 1 5" , "think the Sept. 15th build date is correct. Looks like the engine your looking for.

Re: WTB 72 350 engine or even better bare block

Just read that I is used as a substitute for 1 on some blocks. That being the case the block is Flint built November 15.

PGG what month and year was your k5 built?

What's the best way to tell when your K5 was built?

If the driver door blue decal is missing peek at the ebrake assembly. Assuming it's original will give you a ball park assembly date (week or so after stamped date on the assembly). See date stamp example here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=165
