Belt routing tbi350 ac compressor

I added the compressor for the vintage air system and the belt lines up but it appears that it might not work as intended. It doesnt seem like there will be enough belt engagement on the power steering pulley.

The belt is physically in line with the rear most pulley but that runs the water pumpand power steering pump. What options do I have to put a belt on this compressor?

Vintage air is closed or I'd be bothering them instead.

There's only 40-45% bent engagement as is. If I run the compressor off it it would not have enough to run the pump.

Re: Belt routing tbi350 ac compressor

Hard to tell from photos but is your rear comp groove lined up with p/s pulley?
If so your only other option is to run it w/ alt belt.
Looking at the diagram don't look like they intend for the comp & P/S pump to be run by same belt.
I woulda moved the comp to pass side anyway before trying what they sent you.
When you get hold of VA see if they can help you move comp. You'll be a lot happier later on if you do.
But hurry, it was in the 80s here last week!

Look at your pics again, Power steering belt only runs off the crank. Move it to the closest pulley grove toward the engine. This frees up the center water pump pulley grove and crank for the A/C compressor.

Looks like your AC compressor spacer pushes it back to far to make both pulleys usable. Is the a way to remove the square spacer and move it to the rear compressor bracket. That should move you forward enough to make both groves usable to route all your belts.

Re: Belt routing tbi350 ac compressor

desert, the pulleys you show are for an ac truck. mine is a non ac truck.
my power steering belt is on the crank and water pump. I physically dont have the last groove that you have in your pictures.
I am going to convert over to the ac style pulleys in order to use the belts as gm intended.

The compressor is fixed in its forward and backward position. can not move it. its fastened to the cylinder head basically.

I have the top left non ac one ton small block set. Why there are four different belt setups for 91 is beyond me.

OK, so lets figure this out. my 87 5.7 is a non A/C truck, do you want pics of my P/S belt routing? It only goes around the crank.

I'm still trying to understand how Vintage air wants you to add an accessory without adding different pulleys with extra groves?

Are you sure it doesn't mention adding different pulleys that are not included in the kit?
