I sold my truck and everything that went with it today. I am shutting my business down as it is after 43 years at it and taken a different approach to what I am going to do. I am moving to Sayward and i am going to be on this boat which needs some rebuilding in places; going to build an aft cabin which will be my shop and travel the coast and still do woodworking

this old girl is just 3 months younger than me. She is a 42 1/2' troller, halibut boat that was built in 44 and early 45 and has a Gardner 6LX for an engine
i do look forward to starting it next month
i will perhaps have a couple of listing under parts for sale and that is it. nice knowing some of you people

Wow. Count me as a jealous observer. Traveling the coastline by boat. What a life.
Safe voyage.

Re: last post here

Ron,
Good luck in your new future, sounds exciting, and thanks for all the support you provided to the forum and Parts to me. You will be missed.

Your boat looks real nice, enjoy the sounds of the sea for me. To far away to hear them currently.
The history on your troller is great.
Did a little hearing boat piloting out of Portland ME. When teenager on friends boat. Really enjoyed piloting boat into Portland harbor in the fog at night. My head was in the radar boot and listing to depth gauge readout. Sounding the horn was great fun too. Boat loaded and low tide.

Les

it is not retirement but just working in a different environment. i have always enjoyed my work and will continue to do so and meet real people in all those little communities along the B.C. coast like the entrance into Bella Coola in these pics

> if things do not work out in Sayward this is were I will be based out of. the B.C. coast is a very interesting and exciting place, First time that I travelled up it by boat was in 69 and then in 75 with my brother and put 2 seasons in longlining for halibut off the west coast of the Queen Charlottes.
I have been thinking about this for about 8 or 9 years and just said it is time.
my retirement will be from 4 wheeled vehicles

Re: last post here

this will be my deckhand

and i am quite sure that i will have visitors there is about 10 different fishing rods aboard.
the hardest part will be filling the fuel tanks as they will take 3,000 litres. it is easy on diesel though as it will burn between 1 an 2 gallons an hour at about 7 knots.
