I have a 8" with 2" traction and a 3" body on my swb with 42's ,,,,,, on my blazer I had 35's and a 4" lift and they would rub when I flexed it hard I would go with the 8 if you plan on running 38's

I have 9 inches on 38x15.50's. They will rub on hard flexing. Needs another inch or 2.

There is a guy near me who has 39.5's on what he says is a 6" lift. He says that the suspension is so stiff the only travel is in the tires. I think he has some trimming but there is still only like 1" of clearance. I don't know if it rubs. It is for sale too - and has been since the beginning of the summer (starting price was $6500, then it went to $4500, now it is back at $8500! Personally, I think it is worth around $2500)

I'm getting ready to run 36"x14.5" Truxxs Tires with a 6" suspension lift on my blazer. It might be a little tight and I will let you know how it works out. But the tire width and offset will make a huge difference on what hits/fits. Stick with a narrower 36"x12.5" tire and 4 5/8" backspacing and you should fit fine with 6" of lift.

In my opinion, I would install a 6" suspension lift for now. You may have a little trimming and/or rubbing, but I don't see it as that bad. Then when you want to upgrade, add an additional 3" body lift to get the extra clearance you need for the 38" tires. Stay with a 10" rim and the 4 5/8" offset (check the tire to spring clearance inside) and you should be good to go!

This is my K5 with seven inches of total lift and 36x14.50x16.50 Swampers. They fit nice and only needed a bit of trimming on the front edge of the rear wheelwell. It's now in the process of a 9" lift with 38x15.50x16 swampers

I dig your rig LeRoy! Can't wait to see it with the big meats! I like your trailer too. I want to make one that matches my truck - but first I've gotta get my truck running.

LeRoy, Aaron lives about 5 blocks from me. He's got a lot of nice rigs. I you guys on the freeway as you were heading to the meeting (saw Dennis' flatbed) but I had a meeting to go to at 11 so I couldn't make it.
