Re: Rebuilding manual windows.
You need to pull the door panel off, vent window, window felt and loosen the window track to get access to the regulator. Be careful if you have nice paint taking out the vent window. I would strongly recommend trying to salvage your original gm regulator. I purchased a aftermarket drivers side regulator for my 81 and it was stiff from day one and eventually got so stiff the rod coming out where the window crank attached broke free and loosened up. (my original regulator was totally seized up). I got one from a salvage yard cleaned up the mechanisms re lubed it and it works great. The key is keeping everything clean and well lubed including the track where the rollers slide. Before tightening any of the bolts for the regulator make sure the window operates smoothly. Also take pictures of how everything goes before taking anything off so you don't get confused. Good luck.

Re: Rebuilding manual windows.
The one job I never took photos of for some reason. I did mine during the winter, several years back, when the truck was garaged. Watch some YouTube videos, this will help seeing how all the door parts come out, and going back in. Just cleanup all the parts of the old crusty grease and any rust or debris. And then regrease all the moving parts. I found that my glass had been broken at one time. Found little pieces of glass that they had missed. I also removed the latches too. I would suggest, getting all new rubber & felts. Polish up the glass while it is out.
Since I had every thing out of the door, I sent the vent windows away to Precision and them rebuilt. Everything else, I did myself.

Re: Rebuilding manual windows.
Its not that terrible. I rebuilt my wing windows and one regulator and replaced all my felt and rubber. Turned out great. Recommend having some spare parts. Regulators are year specific. I had to cut a wheel off one and weld it to mine. not to big of a deal. Good luck
