Wiper/Washer Switch
Has anyone fitted one of these;-
https://www.classicparts.com/1960-63...ctinfo/67-646/ I have 2 questions;- 1. Am I correct to believe that this switches the negative ie the return and not the positive and that the negative is picked up via the body of the switch? 2. How do you set the knob up so that it actually operated the washer portion? If I fit the knob to the wiper switch actuator there is no way to push the knob in far enough to operate the wiper. Im confused and not for the first time! |

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
(1) Yes, the wiper wiring places the switch on the ground (negative) side of the circuit. And the metal body of the switch is connected to ground via the switch being mounted in the metal dash panel.
(2) The knob should have a hole in the center for the washer button to stick through. Or I think some knobs have a button in the center that pushes on the washer stem portion of the switch. If your knob has a solid center, it's made for a system without the washer. |

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
On item 2. The washer button goes through the wiper knob that has a hole that runs through it. Push for washer, turn knob for wiper. I bottomed out my knob and secured it with the allen set screw.

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
Cheers guy's, that explains why the washer doesnt work. I didnt see any knobs for sale with the hole in the centre. However I ended up with 2 knobs so I can always drill a hole in one. Alternatively I'll use the wiper switch as just that and add in a separate washer switch.

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
Perfect Rocknrod.
I couldnt find that on Classic Parts website. I was looking in Switches rather than Dash Parts. I'll wait to order it until Ive some other parts to get as it will likely cost me $40 just for the switch to ship to Scotland but at least I can finish my wiring this weekend now I know what I need. |

The Truck Shop in Orange, California is a great place also. They have a downloadable catalog. Ordering however is not as easy because you really have to either call them or go there, It's a shame.

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
Ive ordered from them many times. If you follow the links on their website you can shop online. They will call you with your total with shipping before the order goes through.

Re: Wiper/Washer Switch
Thats a shame, makes ordering from Scotland a little harder! I will have a look though.
