Pretty-ing up the crew
after about 15 yrs or so, making sacrifices fer the family, paying off the house and life in general, finally getting around to getting some paint on my crewcab. been waiting a long time for this....
old beast was looking pretty shabby, dents all over it, and the usual rockers and corners. which was a little bit surprising because when i had the body off the frame 10 yrs ago there was no rust that i could find..... |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
drivers was the worse side, inner is shot as well, same on the pass. started out as a small patch, ended up doing whole inner and out'rs on it too.
i'm wondering if it was helped along or caused by the silly steps i had to put on for wife....(she was wrecking the hinges and pins on the door using it as a pull up handle). cab corners were actually not to bad, just some pin holes- but i want all the rust out, so new corners as well. the rear rockers just needed a re-skinning, everything else was good it did'nt show to well in the pics, but you can see all the dent work on the pass side box |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
also had to replace a small piece of floor....right in line with the front bracket of the side step...
some more dent work. the rear doors i took off a brown and tan '77 sub. also took a 2" strip of rust out of the bottom of the inner pass fender man, have'nt seen the beast this strait or dent free in yrs! |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
thanks guys!
buddy was painting the inside of the cab today, tomorrow we will hang the doors and shoot the outside of the cab, getting exciting now ya mongo, i wanted to go basic black, but there is only one other truck in my town close to my color green and it aint a square, plus i had already color matched my camper and boat to the stock green on the crew, so what the hay, i'm just glad it's not dents anymore |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
thanks Dale!
don't have to park it out back under a tarp anymore.. and chrome trim would like nice Gov, but it ain't happening, i've cut my fenders already cause their b.wacker cut-out flares, so ya, flares are going back on. but i did manage to find a pretty mint CUCV brush guard that will be going on it |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
If you decide to go stock grill you should have this guy update his craigslist ad.

old pic though, i see my mastiff DixieLou sittin' in the back...she died 2015. what craigs is this from MTCK? he'll need to wait a little longer, got a CUCV guard to go on it. only prob is i don't have it right now, borrowed it to buddy so he can use it as a pattern to build one and stocker it is! had the billet grille on for 10 yrs, needed a change. reason i orig bought the billet one was cause the stocker was cracked. plus i think it will look better with the stocker than the billet once the brush guard goes on could'nt stand it, had to wash it down..lol |

Re: Pretty-ing up the crew
Craigslist posting was in Anchorage AK. Paint job turned out nice. It’s the little things. I like when the Chevrolet script on the tailgate remains white.

thanks for the comments on my beast, just waiting on some rubber bumpers (fuel door, t.gate, cab doors) to come in and need to take the t.gate in for Line-x so it matches the rest of the box, then put my stainless t.gate guard on. got a few changes for inside and when my wallet recovers from this, ordering up a set of 16x10 steelies for it |
