Just sent the truck in for the IFS install
Supposed to be about 20-30 hours worth of work. Haven't gotten the estimate as of yet. Installing a Southern Rods Mustang II with power rack (here's the link:https://www.southernrods.com/chassis...kup-truck.html)
I also bought a dual cylinder power brake set up to replace the single I have now. I imagine the ride will be fairly superior. Anything in particular to look for when it's completed and I get it back? (Pretty excited to have it done, as I try to drive it 2-3 days a week, at least). |

before you accept it, check it out, on a hoist would be good. weld quality and general fit/finish. road test with a shop foreman or manager, at highway speed. test brakes, steering quality (drive straight, return to center by itself, doesn't follow every crack in the road, steering wheel centered, power assist is correct and not twitchy at speed etc) and ride. go over a speed bump and ensure its all good. ask for a print out of the alignment specs. take a few pics for future reference (and to post here of course) especially if it's on the hoist.
as said, you are gonna love the MII in comparison to the straight axle. you will need the dual system brake cylinder to operate the new brakes and upgrade the system to a modern, safe system. do you also need the frame mounting bracket? |

I bought the dual system which came with a frame mounting bracket. Figured the power assist would be well worth the $250 the kit cost.

Night an day difference, no wandering, no fighting to keep it straight, no steering play, handles more like a sports car than an old pickup. You will like

did you buy the power brake booster kit with the bracket as well? just curious because a lot of guys are going with a hydroboost set up to make room under the floor plus the assist is really good in comparison. not saying the vac assist is no good, just the hydroboost may be better for actual boost effect. it does take more plumbing with the power steering pump being involved and hydraulic hoses running from there to the under floor booster etc. some guys are using s modified astro van hydroboost. some mustang set ups but they basically all need to be modded for the mount and pushrod. check ogre or kim57 builds for a few pics
