Square body rear end and rim/wheel size
I put a square body rear end under my 65 Fleetside. I understand it’s 3/4” wider per side. What are others running for wheels and tires and backspacing?

Of course everybody will tell you to measure. I strongly advise you that you measure them too, but i will tell you that theres a good chance off the shelf wheels will work.

Re: Square body rear end and rim/wheel size
Depends if it’s a 12bolt or a 10 bolt, late 80’s had the 10 bolt and I would t waste my $, unless that’s what I had etc.
All 71-87 rear ends for 1/2 ton are 1.5” longer than a stock 63-70 early, they are also leaf spring 73-87, and need that changed out.

12 bolt, all converted for coils. The box is off while everything is at the paint shop. Just shopping for wheels at this point but I'll definitely measure before buying.

Re: Square body rear end and rim/wheel size
I installed a 1984 12 bolt into my 61 back in the day. I cut the sway bar mount and perches off the original rear and transferred them to the 12 bolt. I used the stock square body steel wheels, they fit fine. My 61 was lowered about 5 inches.
But, if you are going to lower your truck you will need to carry a bumper jack in order to change the rear tire in case of a flat on the road. I was unable to get the tire out of the wheel well with the wider square body rear end without jacking up the rear of the truck and letting the rear hang down. Good luck with your build.
