Hello

I have milled up my own bed wood from an old elm tree I was able to reclaim. I have cut the widths to match what is posted as the proper sizes for the truck. My question is which boards get bolted down to the cross sills?

I have looked through many pictures and each one is a little different. What is the correct arrangement for a 1954?

The center strips are what's bolted to the cross pieces...none of the boards are actually bolted to the cross pieces, there are bolts that hold the bed to the frame that go thru some boards..at least that's how mine was

I have seen different configurations of boards being bolted down. Some have the the first board the 4 1/4” piece others have the second board, the 7 1/4” piece bolted down and some have some bolts in each. Anyone have a picture of a stock 1954 bed ?

Here's a couple pics of my 54 bed. It's mounted to a 50 frame, but is the stock location for 54.

first pic is the front showing mounting to front panel and bolt in the second board going thru frame.

second pic shows the bolts in first boad going thru frame.
