Which universal joint type and brand to get?
For my u joint replacments on my 66 I was about to buy the Moog Heavy Duty Greasable kind and wondered if greasable is better than non greasable. And also are the brands about the same on these?
Ive no plans for doing anything much but cruising and light duty stuff once my restoration is complete. The engine I have is a 350 and the transmission is a 700r4. |

Re: Which universal joint type and brand to get?
They are not the same. The moog stuff goes both ways. I would get the greaseable. I would also measure the overall legth with thecaps on. The last one I bought from the parts house was too long. It was federal mogul I believe.
I did compare 3 brands of upper ball joints and the moogs were the only ones with the correct hole pattern. The rquired holes to be hogged out. |

Re: Which universal joint type and brand to get?
I got a set of Chinese U joints from OReillys and they didn’t fit and 2 of the 3 were missing something. One was missing bearings and the other was missing the clips. I took them back and got a set of Spicer U Joints from Napa. They were exactly the same size, grease able and look like they were higher quality. No complaints so far.

Re: Which universal joint type and brand to get?
My driveline guy only recommends Spicer.
I've run both Moog and Precision. Currently running Spicer.
