Exclamation Rare GM Styled wheels? info/value?

Looking to know more info on my GM Styled Sport Wheels which was originally a "Frost White" & had a Deeper Dish than >> (Opposite of the Wagon wheels) GM Offered on their pickup trucks...

A good friend of mine Michael Newman on FB (Owner of NOS Square body parts Group) Has told me It took him years to even find a complete set & These even then where very rare, Most where on Sport Trucks but some had them on the 1/2 Ton Pickups like mine, which is a 1982 Chevrolet Silverado K10 with the 6.2L diesel (Red Block) & 700r4/NP-208 Package Both First years for the eng/trans.

https://imgur.com/a/4h1PF05

I myself have found very little as to Pictures & Info online Except a For-Sale Post of a complete set reconditioned for $800.
Any help to Rarity or Value is Much apprenticed!

Re: Rare GM Styled wheels? info/value?

GM offered those when wagon wheels were popular. Funny how time changes things. Now they are rare and sought after by some. Back then I hated them as being cheap stamped out imitation wagon wheels that were made from 1/4" plate. What info do you need? Sounds like you know plenty. They weren't rare when these trucks were new. I saw trucks with them all over the place, both 2wd and 4wd. The alloy wheels were the least common wheels and I rarely see those for sale now. A member on the 67-72 parts board had a set for sale a while back. It was either 72ironmike or another member who's name evades me at the moment

1 set of oem caps with holes drilled and tapped in new rims or use 88-up center caps and conversion lug nuts with ext threads for plastic nuts to hold caps on like i did .

Re: Rare GM Styled wheels? info/value?

They certainly weren't that rare back in the day.

More popular (and prevalent) than the aluminum wheels pictured above them in the brochure.

I am not a very big fan of Beauty rings I just prefer stock.
Your picture does not work though.

Quite Possibly.
Do you exactly know when GM started to offer them?

I have a set of those aluminum wheels that presumably came stock on my 1991 Suburban.

One of them cracked radially at the bead so I replaced them with steel wheels. As far as I'm concerned they are scrap aluminum. I just haven't gotten the tires stripped off of them so I can send them to recycle.

So my advice if you run across a set of those to leave them alone

All good man, I love my wheels. They are so perfect IMO.
Works out b/c I'm still running Autolocking 4x4 hubs, I hate Manual ones.
Horrible look.

I plan on just restoring them back to factory, Mine are 6-lug anyway only truck I own.

Yeah, Times Change for sure.

I never minded aftermarket wagon wheels . Some of them even look tougher. I have had a couple sets over the years.

Re: Rare GM Styled wheels? info/value?

Funny to think of these as rare, or worth much. Although, it did take me a while to find a set of the PA6 wagon wheels that were worth fixing up. I dig these factory six lug 15" rims and have built much of my running gear in order to keep them. I've seen way fewer 5 lug, especially steel factory wagon wheels.

Yeah. I guess. But the fact is I rarely see Any of the Trucks here in michigan or my area in general with these rims. Since most are beyond rusted out and turned into Mud trucks.

Re: Rare GM Styled wheels? info/value?

You couldn't throw a rock without hitting a set of wagon wheels as everybody made them, just different pinstriping color depending on whos name was on the box. I've got a pair of aftermarket ones (American Racing) for snow tires as they where the cheapest steel wheel out there when I bought them.

American Racing has discontinued them, but Crager still has theirs; https://www.cragarwheel.com/wheels/w...10-nomad-white

US Wheel also makes a good one.
https://www.uswheel.com/wheel/7645/u...part=70%2D5055

I have used them on several trucks, I like the look. They are very solid and hold up well. One truck has had them for 12 years now.
