LS1 swap and vhx gauges
So I’m finishing up the LS1 swap on my dads 67 C10. The motor came with a wiring kit that is not the best.... the motor was part of a few project cars that were never finished. I can’t get the obd port to communicate to my scanner. I bought the Dakota digital ob2 connector for the vhx gauges. Won’t work at this point. The cpu has oil and water wires coming from it. Dakota digital says I can’t use those in their module. How are you guys doing your vhx gauges with an ls swap.

Re: LS1 swap and vhx gauges
It's been a while since I did my swap. But, on lt1swap.com, Brendan gives a bunch of different schematics for different years with what wires are needed for the OBD2 port. If you don't use the port, you'll have use old school sensors. everything you need to know for those should be in your VHX manual. I'm happy with my setup, for sure. Good luck!

Re: LS1 swap and vhx gauges
I used the sensors and that came with my vhx gauges. The sensor kit has the adapters need to make them work as well. I used Dakota digitals sensors for the oil pressure and engine coolant temperature, for the tach and speedometer I’m getting signal through the engine harness. I got the oil pressure threaded into the factory spot behind the intake and the coolant sensor is threaded into the passenger head near the rear of the engine.

Just use the OBD port to read info. That’s what I did and can’t beat it for simplicity with no added extra wires.
