What’s the appeal for that weights and plate combo?

The appeal is a high performance advance curve. There is a certain hei you can buy new that has these already installed. I would have to look up the part number not all are the same and a lot of new hei's are pure junk. I have it in mine and ive been tickled pink, no laziness and it gets up and goes with the old heads.
Also to the other poster , I believe i have a set . I will have to go look in the garage. Maybe two sets Ill see.

Thanks BigTruckDriver that would be great if you do and if you can find the part number to yours also would be great. I was told by Dave to try and find these to rebuild mine, and have heard from others also so I am going to give it a try.

Thanks
Kirk

Your doing this on a 350 dist. Right? It 's been a long time now. If I remember right the #41 are in some of the 305 Dist. or the v6 dist. I have to look at my Dist. holding shelf. As said I think the center comes in some aftermarket set up Dist. for some reason Accel come to mind. You can do some searches on the they Mr. Gasket , Accel, Moroso, MSD, there is most likely 4 or 5 more can think of them.

Have you found some sort of a table or book explaining what effect these different numbered parts have on the advance curve? I would be very interested in learning more. Sorry I cant help with those particular parts you are looking for.

I don't have a table or book, my buddy told me to look for that set because it is the best combination for SBC 350 engine, so here I am looking for them.

Buy a $15 advance kit at AutoZone. Use whatever combo meets your needs. It's stamped steel cookie cutter pieces and springs. I don't think being Chinese in origin matters in this case.

As for being the "best set for a 350" there are a million combinations of 350. The only way you'll know for sure is to put the engine on a Dyno and curve the timing with a distributor machine. Otherwise it's seat of the pants feel and subjective at that.

Re: GM HEI #41 weights and #375 center plate wanted

I was told to stay away from all the kits out there, the only thing that has it in it is the Chevrolet performance HEI Distributor # 93440806, So instead of spending $220 bucks I just want the #41 weights and #375 center plate. I guess that's asking too much. meanwhile I will continue to search junk yards around here for them, until someone tells me they have some I can get from them.

Thanks
Kirk
