54 235 Headers
I am thinking about buying a set of the Fenton "look alike" headers for my b47 with a 53/54 235.....Just wondering if they are worth it. I hate the old OEM manifold.....

Re: 54 235 Headers
I installed a set of Fenton duals on my 54 235 and they are great on a warmed up to temp engine, not so good on a cold engine in chilly weather.
I use dual copper lines to try and supply exhaust heat to the dual carb intake, they don't work so good. Those in the know recommend plumbing in hot water instead of exhaust to get a more consistent heat. There are adapters to supply hot engine coolant to aftermarket intakes I don't know if those adapters bolt to an OEM intake, you'd have to ask the provider or someone may happen along that knows... In any case neither works as good as the OEM single carb intake and single exhaust/flapper manifold setup, especially in cold weather. I just let mine warm up longer and eventually the hesitation and stumbling subsides and it runs like a 235 with twin progressive 2bbl's, 3/4 cam and dual exhaust should.... Dave |
