PS pump differences.

I’m putting together parts for my LM7 Vortec 5.3 build. I bought a new PS from RockAuto but it doesn’t match my old one (which is a remanufactured one I got with parts I bought from a salvage yard 5.3).
I need guidance here.
The large piece that bends at a right angle is part of the reservoir and can’t be removed. The stem sticking straight back is a sensor.

That fitting can be removed. It may be tight, but it will unscrew out of the reservoir.

Thank you very much. Mission accomplished. My son had convinced me it was part of the case. Next I’ll see if I can hook it up to the new pump.

Success! Swapped over after I removed the nut on the new pump. I sure hope this all works once installed.

I thought you were going the other way with it for some reason. But curious, why you want to use that piece? Usually that piece will cause interference problems, but if you don't have any problem with clearance, shouldn't hurt to use it.

The pump has a sensor on that piece. Don’t I need to give the computer a sensor reading? I can just run a hard line out of the back of the pump and delete the sensor. What do most people do? I will use the Holley Terminator X wiring harness and ECM.
