Oh Man, Header install fail help!
I tried every Yoo Toob how-to I could find. Broke bolt off in head removing stock exhaust manifolds...broke 2 easy outs off trying to remove it. Welded a nut onto the broken bolt, breaks the weld before it will loosen the broken bolt.
Now the question is, are 3909802 heads any good and is $850 a fair price. He states that they've been "completely gone through, ready to bolt on". 1974 C20 454 TH400 I'm supposed to look at them tomorrow. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Oh Man, Header install fail help!
If the old heads are in good shape, see if a machine shop can help. As a last resort on the old heads, price having the broken bolt hole drilled out and tapped with a larger hole or otherwise repaired. If the shop can repair them, you could also price a complete rework of your existing heads, since they will already be off the motor.
No clue on 802 heads or value. |

It’s a tough call, how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? Might be a good time for some aluminum heads and a cam change.
At the very least I would take your heads off and replace the stem seals while your repairing if you haven’t had any issues or complaints.
