Removing Crossmember Studs

In the Process of a teardown of my 63 C10. The crossmember stud threads that hold the upper control arms are damaged and need to be replaced. LMC has replacement studs listed as Bracket Studs. I am going to assume they are pressed in. What is the best way to remove them and then replace them.

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

Maybe press them out..or a air Impact hammer may drive them out...

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

when removing rivets in a truck frame center punch in the middle drill with 5/16 or 3/8 almost all the way through the rivet then use a larger bit and mill away the head and drive the rivet out using a 1/4 punch using the smaller punch then the hole you drilled lets the rivet collapse around the punch.

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

I think are splined, I saw those for sale someplace online but I can't remember where right now.
See if these are the right dimensions - https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Repla...RoC5ewQAvD_BwE
No I think ours are 1/2" stud x 3.125" long?
Item #8 "should" work for our trucks - https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...-2-wheel-drive

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

Thanks for the replies. I can cut off the bolt from the inside and try to hammer out the remaining with the head on the opposite side, but I don't want to bend the bracket. I can't grind the head off due to it being in a concave part of the bracket. After knocking out some frame rivets and upper ball joint rivets with a punch and hammer yesterday I'm worried these will be a little more than my scrawny arms can handle. (No air compressor and accompanying tools yet) I know my grip thumb and finger would want an alternative to that, like an air compressor and accompanying tools.
Rocknrod they do look like they should be splined though. They are about 3.125 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. LMC does have them for a 63. If they are splined maybe they would come out similar to a wheel stud? I'll try a little hammering to see if any progress can be made. Just don't want to bend anything.

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

Does anyone know if this smaller spacer comes off or is it part of the bracket? The replacement spacer on the LMC diagram looks square and only shows one. All be it its a drawing, probably not an accurate depiction. Mine are round and are two part. One is convex the other is concave.

Maybe drill them out from back side?

Re: Removing Crossmember Studs

You can press them out using a ball joint press or a beefy C clamp and a socket over the wide base.
