Bad News, Good News
I'm putting the front of my Blazer back together, and I noticed I only have one headlight assembly (bucket and retainer). I searched on every shelf, through every bin, everywhere in my garage and my shed twice. Nothing. Then I realized there was one fairly good-sized bin I hadn't checked, so I got it down with anticipation - could this be where it's hiding?
I opened the bin, and no headlight assembly. But while I was searching through the bin, I discovered that I have a complete set of rear hatch lift arms - something I didn't even realize I had. I'll have to do some repair work on the hatch, but at least I have all the hardware. I guess I can't be too disappointed now.

Re: Bad News, Good News
That is the way all my days go. I start on a task and lose the parts. Then in my search I find the part I lost yesterday, so I install that.
On the other hand I am anal about putting my tools and wrenches away in an orderly manner. My 3/8 nut driver is missing. It's about to drive me crazy.

I get that. I got a huge tool chest for Father's Day this year and now every tool has its place. I love putting them away almost as much as taking them out.
Good luck with the nut driver. At least it's not a 10mm - those seem to disappear into another dimension.

Re: Bad News, Good News
Years back I bought new lug nuts for my 52 one ton so the next time I had a wheel of I could put them on and at least a year later driving home one night after being on the road for weeks a tire goes flat I check under the seat and get the box of new lug nuts and start changing the tire as I take the old nuts off I throw them over my shoulder with the spare on I start putting on the new lug nut and they are the wrong size the box was marked right at least I could take what I needed from the other wheels to get home .

Re: Bad News, Good News
I am also anal about saving the box and old part until I'm sure the new one fits. A couple of weeks ago I changed the turn signal switch on my Jeep Wrangler. After two Taiwan manufactured switches were faulty, i took the old one apart and repaired it.
I found my 3/8 nut driver just now. It seems when I was installing the lower radiator hose, my attention was redirected to the radiator cap. While looking through my NOS caps, I laid the nut driver down beside them. .........................now I don't remember why I needed the nut driver. I will go put it in it's proper place.
