Square Body Interior Door Panel Plastic Material?

What type of plastic are the factory Square Body door panels? Are they made of a TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin)?

If I heat them up, I can move it around pretty well but it I have one panel that is shaped wrong from years of sun and when it cools back down it seems to have a “memory”.

I am doing some experimenting and am having a tough time getting good adhesion to the factory plastics.

I did get a fiberglass repair to hold (for now) but want to make sure that it will hold up.

I am now going to try a different SEM adhesion promotor, the XXX with the flexible epoxy to see if that will work.

Last night I tried CA glue and it didn’t work very well which surprised me as it normally has stuck to everything.

Re: Square Body Interior Door Panel Plastic Material?

I'd guess different years, different manufactuerrs, different materials. Things I've noticed between my '83 and '81; the 81 plastic is crumbly and brittle. Those inner fender sheilds, rotten on the '81. Come apart in your fingers.
On the '83, the door panels are more flexible, have some sun bleaching but not crumbly (it has been an outside truck 24/7). The '83 inner fender splash shields also, solid, don't tear, and you can pull on em without worry, just torn edges where they rest on the edge of the control arm.
