LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
Good morning to all. I have decided to record my LY6/TR6060 swap. My truck is a 1968 C10. It was basically built from the ground up. As it stands, my work truck sports a 5.5/4L60E. I just wanna make it a daily driver. I'll post pics as the builds goes on.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
A lot has happened since I posted on this thread. Things happen behind the before one of the trucks can built, LSx swap, again. I ordered a high hump cover and installed just to yes fit. I ordered a power booster hydraulic clutch kit from CaptainFab, a board member. The LY6/TR6060 fully assembled and ready to drop in the truck. I also installed the hydraulic lines and bleeder clutch kit from Tick performance. Only thing left to do is figure out which route I can take for the wire harness to power the engine. The setup is 58x relucter wheel, with DBW. I need a throttle body and possibly a door pedal. I wish I could go DBC. But something will give. Her are some pics.

Yes. Updates required. I just got my stock F-Body clutch kinda figured out for my T56 in a Blazer so I am interested in your configuration. I also just purchased the Tick remote speed bleeder setup but have not installed it yet.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
On my 68 LS swapped C10 I mounted the ECM and relays behind the glove box. I had to section the glove box liner to make room. Then ran the wire loom for the engine under the heater box.
On a Camaro L92 swap I did a DBC throttle body from Holley. ECM and programming was from Howell. It worked well. On a friends LS swap he used a LS3 intake and Corvette throttle body DBW. He used Speartech and it worked well. To each his own. |

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
@LS Short box, Interesting. I haven't decided what harness or engine management to use yet. but I'm definitely up for ideas. My LY6 has the stock DBW throttle body. I have a L92 intake and a LS3 intake. I would like to use my stock foot pedal. I also have a stock harness and ECM and TCM to use with my set up. sooner or later ill figure it out. I'm just collecting parts.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
If you use the the DBW you won't be able to use a "stock" pedal. I believe most harness suppliers use the Corvette DBW pedal. If you go the DBC I used the Lokar pedal and Lokar cable.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
I ordered the hydraulic clutch kit from a board member, captainfab454. I gotta say it’s a wrap. His kit is awesome. He did all the hard work when it comes to playing with the clutch linkage. Thanks @captainfab454. The hydraulic clutch master cylinder is installed. I’ll post pics tomorrow when I have daylight. I’ll set up the linkage when I install the clutch pedal. No need to have a clutch pedal and I’m not shifting gears.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
looking good. I did the captfab kit too, the one threaded rod in the linkage inside the firewall can be adjusted to set pedal height. You should be able to play with it and get matched to the brake pedal at least. I ended up lowering my pedal almost 1/2 way down in travel, the hydraulic system seems to release the clutch without a whole lot of travel needed. With the clutch all the way up against the rubber button, I felt like my knee was up almost in the steering wheel

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
I also did the Captain's Clutch kit and it worked very well. I ran a hard line from the master to a fabbed bracket, then a flex line to the slave. Also used a Tick speed bleeder.
As far a the pedal height I made a sure I had a clean clutch release then I made some adjustments to the pedal height to match the brake pedal. See attached pics. |

Just trying something out. I tried to shift the TR6060 it’s hard as heck to put in the gears. Is it possible to do the shift while the transmission is on the floor, uninstalled? Would this have something to do with the clutch engagement, hydraulics, pressure plate action. The reason I as because I wanted test the durability of my jerry rigged shifter. FYI, I do plan to buy a shifter that installs in the shifters relocation port.

If it is and its hard to engage gears, the clutch is most likely not releasing enough... If the engine is not running but its hard to move the lever into gears, there is most likely some binding up inside the shift rails of the trans.

Tried to post pics but I am having a security Token glitch. The LY6/TR6060 hasn’t been installed. 🤔 Maybe I need a professional to install this. @AussieinNC is this a good thing or bad thing?

Nice progress. I’m planning on using the Sonnax adapter as well. I hadn’t though of the telescoping driveshaft. Is that necessary?

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
@splatrd, the captain fab kit cam with the master cylinder. Its an awesome kit.
@Tork? yes its needed unless you convert the tr6060 to accept an slip yoke drive shaft but its expensive. @JJzepplin, thanks for the offer. I bought a new drive shaft. my driveshaft was 55 inches long, from the center of the sonnax adapter the center of the yoke on the rear end. |

The LY6/TR6060 is in its place. Hopefully I won’t be changing this combo any time soon.

Re: LY6/TR6060 Swap from a 5.3/4L60E
My high hump transmission tunnel has some interference with transmission. I am gonna guess it’s the curved ending part. gotta think this out. I wanna run the oem clutch fan and the Stock a/c compressor, in the stock location. This gonna be interesting. Well I’m interested to see what happens. I will keep you all posted.
