Eaton HO72 Axle Shop Manual

Good day all! Could someone direct me to a repair manual for the HO72 Axle? I want to replace my leaky pinion seal but cannot undo the large yoke nut. Yes, I did get the rusty cotter pin out completely and yes, I do have the leverage and correct socket, which I ground the OD to fit into the yoke and get full engagement on the nut. Thinking I can undo the flange bolts and pull out the pinion gear together with the pinion bearing but want to be sure there's nothing else like a snap ring or circlip holding it together. Thanks!

Re: Eaton HO72 Axle Shop Manual

Yes thank you that link was very helpful. I read through the link you sent and all the Pirate 4x4 postings on the H072 as well. Based on the info I read there, I pulled of the bearing retainer and pinion gear out. I found that the PO had been in there, lots of orange RTV. The flange nut was hacked up with a chisel and the pinion support bearing (the small one) had disintegrated, galling the bearing surface on the pinion gear. I have a very nice spare center section that I will put in for now but unfortunately it's got 5.13 gears, so the 4WD lever will be off limits until I can find another one... Thanks again!

I'm on the other end of the country, but just took a few HO's apart, so may be able to help with some parts if you can't find any locally

Thank you for your note. I will PM you separately with parts requests. I will probably need a few things. Stay safe!
