What can I do to my stock engine and rear end setup to make it cruise better

Picked up a stock 60 short bed with a 235 and 4 on the floor. Granny first gear. I’m wondering if I can swap out the gears in the rear end to make it cruise a little better. Is this a simple swap? Any info is much appreciated.

I’m not sure what’s in there at the moment, I just know it’s completely stock

Take a picture of your rear end and a member can tell you if other gears are available for it, and how hard to swap.
Another option is to get a transmission with an overdrive.

Save your pennies and buy a Tremec TKO. My daily driver the last 6 years has been a 66 c10 with a stout small block, 3 on the tree and 4:11 rear gears. I installed a TKO 600 in February and have drove over 1200 trouble free miles so far. This trans has been the best money i've ever spent. It cruises all day 1900 rpm at 70mph
