Factory optional mirrors

I am wondering about outside mirrors for my 1966 C10 long fleetside. Does anyone know what the various options looked like? Were tow mirrors even offered at the factory or were they dealer installed? Does anyone have a picture of the OEM tow mirrors?
Thanks

Here's a shot from the factory with tow type side mirrors. I doubt C10's had them from factory, maybe though.

Thanks Rocknrod...so if I understand what you're thinking then C20's and up would probably only have them

Re: Factory optional mirrors

I've seen them on half tons, but whether they were put on at the factory or dealer installed or installed by the previous owner, I have no clue.

I pulled one off a C30 that still had the correct mounting hardware on it. A factory install used special bolts on the top bracket to fit with the inner door frame

Re: Factory optional mirrors

Yes, there were several optional mirrors for your 66. The mirrors depicted in Post 2 appear to be the Junior West Coast type and could be ordered as RPO D29 on any C or K, 10-30.
D29 would have appeared on the SPID if they were ordered in 66 (no SPIDs prior to 66).
Also note that these were included in the Z81 (Custom Camper) package in 65-66 (and would NOT appear on a 66 Custom Camper SPID).

Hope that helps, here's a snip of the other optional mirrors and some pics of D29s on Custom Campers (last 2 pics are member murdoc's low mile custom camper):

Re: Factory optional mirrors

If I was to buy a brand new Chevy pu between '62-'66, I would have ordered the optional "below eye line" or "bus type" mirrors. These are safer ( less of a blind spot) than the more common "west coast" style used mainly on custom campers.
