preferred brand of intank fuel pump 88 TBI 454

I need to order two new fuel pumps and sending units for my project truck(1988 gmc r3500 454 wTBI). What is everyone's preferred brand? I have twin tanks as well. Thank you in advance for any help on this.

I’ve always ordered GM or DELPHI from rockauto.

I also will only use AC Delco or Delphi - I have replaced too many Carter pumps and I only like to do that job once!

Delphi. Avoid GM pumps. Anything new is made in Mexico w/these. I installed both L/R new units on my dually (circa 2015) & both failed within months (<6). Swapped to Delphi's & no issues.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Bringing this thread back TTT..... The 6yr old/<7500 miles Delphi pump that replaced a <6wk old/zero mile A/C Delco pump has failed. Luckily I was just moving the dually around to a different parking space so once I got some muscle to help, we were able to push it into a parking spot.

@44th Miss Inf.... You mention the use of the later spec'd ep381 pump (96-up vortec) vs. the tbi spec'd pump. I thought the fuel psi was way different (<15psi/tbi vs 48-60psi/efi)??

What changes would be required to run one of these on a tbi truck?

The EP381 pump is CAPABLE of producing higher pressure, but the regulator in the tbi is what keeps the psi low. The ep381 flows more gph than the ep386.

I’ve never changed a thing, and never had an issue

Re: preferred brand of intank fuel pump 88 TBI 454

I always use the ep381 pump (96-up vortec) on my tbi trucks, have been since they came out, and have never had an issue. Some recommend the ep377 (94-95 454 tbi) but I would NOT use an ep386, which is what came in the truck. They barely supply enough fuel for a 350, much less a 454.
