What is the shift pattern for SM420?
I am restoring a 67 short K10 that I got as a pile of parts . The SM420 is installed but I have not had the truck running and will need a shift knob soon (since I could not find one in the pile of parts). Just wondering if the shift pattern is different from later 4 speeds. I realize I can just try to shift it while standing still and see what I get, but maybe someone just knows the answer. Then I will go next door and ask about buying the right knob.

1 through 4 are in a normal H pattern. Reverse is towards the driver and down.

I've got this original knob out of a 67 with an SM420. It's yours if you want it.

Just cover the shipping, and I'll send it your way. Let me look up how much that will be.

Thanks for the gift of the knob. I also admire the 67 glove box door you have in the photo. I finally tracked down one of those this year too. So many 67 one-year-only parts.Attachment 2164806

I'm jealous of the truck. Looks great! I'm hoping to find a K20 to rebuild at some point.

pjmoreland, That was very nice of you. Not many people like that. Most just want sell and some want an arm and a leg.

Re: What is the shift pattern for SM420?
Thank you, BigBird05. I pulled all of the clutch parts off that '67 truck at a pick-n-pull yard. I had a pile of miscellaneous big and small parts. They didn't even bother charging me for the small stuff, including that shift knob. I didn't need it, but I grabbed it anyway. It makes me happy to see it go to good use instead of languishing in a box in my garage.
