How ToTM Works
originally posted by: Palf70Step
For those who wonder, here is how our Truck of the Month contest is currently working. On or about the middle of the month, the moderator will decide on a theme for the TOTM. A thread will then be started explaining the theme and rules (what vehicles can be entered and any other special requirements). The thread will normally run about a week and any board member can nominate a vehicle. Obviously the vehicles nominated must be owned by a board member and meet the criteria set out for that month's contest. At the end of the nomination period the contest moderator will compile the nominees and set-up a poll for the voting. The board software limits how many nominees we have in a poll, so typically the first 15 (or whatever max number the board software permits) nominees will be those in poll. The voting normally will run till the first day of the month. The winner is then officially crowned and announced to the rest of the board. The Admin folks then change the winners board name to green, and below their name they get a title of TOTM Winner. To giver you an idea of the time lines, The April TOTM process would start about the 17th of March for the nominations, and around the 24th the voting poll would begin. On April 1st, the poll ends and the winner is announced. Themes for TOTM, will vary, but are normally setup to NOT restrict it to one year group of trucks. You can view the archives areas for examples of TOTM themes that have been used. January is normally set aside to do a Truck of the Year instead of TOTM. We take the previous years TOTM winners, and then pick one to hold the designation of Truck of the Year. During the year, we try to do one month where the theme is based on our beaters, banged-up or less then cool looking trucks. Trucks that are selected as TOTM winners, are not able to participate in future truck of the month contests for a designated time frame. Board members can contact the Contest area moderator with ideas or suggestion for TOTM themes. |
