Anyone using the DIY4X Engine Cross member?

Is anyone here using the 2nd design DIY4X engine cross member with the drop out center? I have used the 1st design with the solid tube and it worked good. Thinking about ordering the new style but read in another forum about some fitment issues.

I just saw the other cross member post.pop up after I posted this. Guess I should mention this is for a basic old small block engine. What I had read was something about having to use shims under the motor mounts.

Using this crossmember on my K20 project and it worked out great. Plus it helped facilitate sliding the SBC forward to allow for a 700R additional length.

I have one in my 71 k20 with a sbc and it did require a lot of force (hammer, pry bar) to install and the drop-out section is under alot of pressure and requires large screw drivers and punches to get everything to line up

Definitely could see this happening. My install had the benefit of having the front crossmember removed.

Put the original design in first, called DIY, and asked him if he could put flanges on it, to make it a 3 piece design.

I've had to change oil pan a couple times, and. It sure makes it easy, just mark the front of the center section as it may bind, no problems with reassembly with just the motor mounts holding up the engine

Hardest part was getting the old cross member out
