700R4 dipstick
Have a 700r4 mated to a 383 in my '49. Currently, I'm using the Lokar flexible dipstick but it's so hard to read it's virtually useless. I've tried to rough up both sides of the end of the stick so it will hold fluid better but nothing seems to work well...it's just too small. So, I want to replace it with something else. What dipstick are you using?

Re: 700R4 dipstick
Stock 700R4 tube & stick on a 51. It's close to the firewall, but minimal mods(other than the floor pan). Never been a fan of the over priced Lokar. Just made the floorpan to fit. 84 C4 700R on the C4 350 and tried to get the center of gravity low and as far back as possible with minimal firewall mods.

Re: 700R4 dipstick
I would say mod the floor. do it in a way that will be easy to install flooring mayterial over if thats what you will do in the end. if the plan is to have carper then look at the available shifter boots first and decide what boot will fit over the shifter and related bump and go from there. nothing worse than trying to fit caret around a square. some newer cars use a styrofoam style filler to smooth out the humps and bumps in the floor contour so the carper ends up smooth. the center section of the floor is replaceable, you could buy a new one and mod that if you want to keep the stock one as is for some reason. probably not that tough to build but if you like plug and play then just buy a new one and mod it, keep the old one on the garage wall as a reminder of the fun you had doing the mod.

Re: 700R4 dipstick
I used the stock 700r4 dipstick in my 54 with the crate 350. Works fine. I just read a thread about a lokar flexible tube dipstick that left me wondering. Guess it will read quarts low if bent. Not good.
