core support replacement progress
Here's what I started with:

1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

New support,
also installed a new battery tray/box and the wire gutter along the front.

Another.
7. Will install the pass side fender/inner fender today. Going to get a good hood from Randy(Randy70c-10) today. Need to find a driver side inner fender, but will go ahead and install driver side fender. More progress pics to follow. One thing I'd like to say I was suprised at how smooth it was to remove each piece only had one welded nut brake loose.

How much did the new core support run you? Mine is rusted in the usual places and I need a new one sooner or later.

Looks great. Where did you find the GMC core support? I didn't think anyone was offering them. Did you have to weld the headlight brackets on from your old support? I replaced mine with a decent one from 70 GMC Jimmy and had to sandblast and weld in patches where there was rust, primed and painted w/Eastwood chassis black. The end product turned out real nice.

What Randy said. I bought the support from Donnie (BigO).
As far as the Blue it was originaly olive and early on someone painted it blue. I cleaned the support up and painted it black to match the battery tray.

Looks good. I'm in the process of taking mine apart too to replace the core support and both inner fenders. Rust in the same exact spot on the core support. Keep up the good work

Brian, his old hood was rusted out pretty bad across the front. I had a spare that was in mint condition so I gave him a good deal on it. Jim's truck is really badass and it actually looks bigger in person.
