SBC radiator
Who makes a radiator that fits in the stock location between the framerails of my '64 C10 that will cool a SBC, no stroker of high HP, just a nice crate motor. Would like a brass but aluminum is OK.

Re: SBC radiator
My '64 C10 has a mostly stock 305 small block in it, but I plan to add A/C so will need a little better than stock cooling. Brass radiators are available, but they are a lot more expensive than many aluminum units. Lots of people use Champion aluminum radiators, but I like the ones from Auto City Classic better. A little more stock looking.

Re: SBC radiator
Stock location for a truck with a V8 has the radiator sitting on top of the cross member and the radiator extends over the frame rails.
The previous owner of my truck cut the frame rails to fit the v8 radiator in the inline 6 spot. I don't recommend doing that.

Re: SBC radiator
So there are 2 radiator locations on 2 different cross members, one for the sixes, the other (more forward) for the V8s. Do you have to modify the top mount that bolts to the radiator support? Anybody have a pic?

Re: SBC radiator
I got an aluminum one for my 62 from US radiator. I don’t think it will work with your original fan shroud if you are planning on using it. But I have had it a few years now and has worked great. I had a 308 and now I have a 350 crate motor. I am using electric fans

Re: SBC radiator
I've been using this one. I've had it a while and it's been good. https://speedcooling.com/product/196...inum_radiator/

Re: SBC radiator
Here you can see an aftermarket v8 radiator in the correct location for a 63-66 truck. There's just the two brackets that the radiator sits in that is bolted to the top of the crossmember. You have the same crossmember for either a v8 or inline 6 truck, there's just two different places for the radiator to sit on. In the second picture, look at the frame rail next to the steering gear. The cut out section is where the previous owner hacked the frame to fit the v8 radiator in the inline 6 spot.
You can purchase the correct upper v8 bracket from most of the typical aftermarket sellers. I found an original one when I did mine, so I'm not sure how good the aftermarket ones are. While you're at it, you can also purchase a new fan shroud and the correct side baffles to mount the shroud. You'll need to be running a short water pump to run the factory shroud. I also installed a 65 Impala 5 blade fan and fan clutch on my truck. Works great
