60 to 61 differences

Hello men,
What are the differences between these years?
The hood pod inserts, the grill, the badging on the side of the hood, those I know. But did only the 60 have the glove box Chevrolet script? And did only custom cabs have this?
And I’ve heard about the hubcap tabs being different but does that mean the caps won’t interchange?
Ever notice half the time you see an ad or pic for these year trucks they get the years wrong??

You are correct that only the 60 year model trucks got the Chevrolet glove box door script. Not every truck got that trim piece. It was optional, but I don't remember what the option code was.

60 was also the only year for the paint divider trim on the back wall of the cab. That piece of trim fit over the sail panel trim, so those are also one year only. 61-63 cab trim was the same. I put the glove box door script on my 63 because I really like the look of it, but I don't plan on putting the sail panels on.

Regarding the hubcaps, the 60 trucks continued using the 59 Apache hubcaps. All 60 hubcaps are clip style caps, both 1/2 and 3/4 ton. The 61-63 style caps are either clip or nub style depending on what wheels were ordered for the 1/2 ton and only clip for the 3/4 ton.

Yup, I notice people getting the year wrong all the time, but it's also easy to put any combo of 60-66 front end pieces together on the same truck since most of the parts use the same mounting bolts. They might have the correct year for the cab but the wrong year for the rest of the parts bolted to the cab.

1960 only used a plate to mount the dimmer switch. Also the 1960 deluxe heater used a different routing for the heater valve control cable.

I remember a post here by a member saying that there are slight differences between the 60 and 61 hood itself, rounder edges or something like that. I can’t find the post now, and surely can’t confirm that.

I bought a 60 hood for my 61 and haven't noticed any difference. Maybe the die was crisper on the early 60 vs the latter 61?
