lowering brake pedal 1966 c10
A friend of mine has a 66 c10 with manual drum brakes all the way around. He has had hip replacement and is having trouble getting his foot up to the brake pedal. Is there a way to lower the brake pedal towards the floor about 2 inches?

I will be doing that to my '61 shortly.
I expect to merely shorten the rod to the master, and fabricate some sort of extension to hit the brake light switch and reach the stopper. If there is a stopper. I can't remember. You can't really re-shape the arm itself, as it still has to contour the floor.

Yes, it has been done before by replacing the original rubber bump stops for the pedal with some bolts.

I lowered my brake pedal close to an inch today; whatever was comfortable with the gas pedal I have.
Adjusted the push rod, and there was ample adjustment in the brake light switch. Fabricated a similar stop as to the link above. Thanks!

Ok what about going to power brakes. The guy thinks he might want power brakes too. What combo should I get and how hard is this upgrade

My suggestion for converting to power brakes would be to get a brake booster adapter bracket from CaptainFab on this board, along with a booster and dual tank master cylinder from a 67-70 C10. The bracket bolts right up to the firewall with no mods and the above booster bolts right to it. Doing it this way also requires splitting the brake line by the right front upper control arm. And this isn't a big deal, either. Do some searches and look in the FAQ section in the 60-66 section. Lots of info on doing this.
