frame hole for square body brakes

i haven't worked on my truck in a long time. i was going to drill holes in the frame for my front brakes for my squarebody front end. i noticed some existing slots in the frame that just about fit the hex on the front brake lines. did anyone else with a square body front end use these slots for brake lines? its almost like general motors thought all this through sometimes
