Parking Brake - NOPE validation request
Dug into my ‘86 K10 and I’m thinking the PO put the parking brake equalizer together using a few spare parts that might not be correct.
The enclosed pic shows the current config (ignore the cut cable, it was frozen) and I don’t see how the equalizer pulls both cables configured this way. From what I can tell only one cable (driver) will be pulled. I checked LMC and really can’t tell how the equalizer should be configured. I did however order new cables and associated parts (including a new equalizer). Anyone have experience/pics? |

Re: Parking Brake - NOPE validation request
That is correct, other than the zip tie. It just looks odd. There is a limited amount of equalization between the two sides which is why one cable is adjustable. When the pedal is depressed it pulls the lower pass-through cable and triangular bracket toward the front until there is tension on the upper cable. Then it begins to pull the lower cable. This is the adjustment procedure from a manual I have.

Thanks a lot for that!
The word “equalizer” threw me off my not so good game! |
