Local Swapmeet

Our town pop. is 63,000 but we have the fair grounds for the county. We are having the big annual Auto swap meet today and Sunday. I got up bright and early to get there (I am NOT a morning person, grumble grumble) It took me over 2 hours just to walk up and down most of the isles. This must have doubled our population for the weekend. You couldn't come within a mile and a half without getting stuck in traffic. I got a deal so I'm happy. Got a stock electronic quadra-jet for my truck - just rebuilt never used since rebuilt. Guy was asking $225, but I talked him down to $170. I know have a replacement carb so I can rebuild and modify the original and still have a working truck! I'm certainly happy.

There were a couple nice 73-87 chevy trucks, burbs, and blazers, but none of them were really picture worthy. Our trucks are all in better shape. One that caught my eye was a 85 black C-10 that was bagged. Billet dash and bags were the only mods. The bed was notched and nicely filled over - 4 link rear. He was asking $10,000. Ouch.

I saw 3 tach dash clusters at one place and I thought Jackpot! I can sell them on e-bay! Look on back at the price tags - $165 each! A factory repair manual was $89. I guess I'm going to e-bay to find my repair book...

Hey Tyler, I seen that Black bagged C10 on a trailer, friday morning, going north on 99..also seen a few of the other C10's and the light blue burb on a trailer friday morning...I was going to go to the swap meet. My club (Quarter Mile Club) had a spot there...but I KNEW they wouldn't have ANY stuff I need (84-89 Vette parts).

Yup, I'm one of the original members, haha. Just ask anyone in the club "You know the guy with that vette?" and they'll know who you're talking about.

I didn't get to go. Would have if I had some money. Don't know if there was anything I could score for my "too new" truck.

Maybe you know my friend Peter with the Eclipse?
I've talked to the guy (forget his name) with the purple Skylark out at Montpelier Rd along time ago, I used to see him here in town quite a bit. I see alot of members, a guy with a Black SS Nova I see here in town alot and i've seen a brown 60-66 in Modesto quite a bit on McHenry.

What year? Is it like an 70? (The second body style nova) If it is and the guy is black, then that's Kid. (Don't know his actual name, but that's what everyone calls him)

There's an article in the Sept. 1988 Lowrider that I have that says Modesto has "Graffiti Nights". It's organized cruising on McHenry, does that still go on today? Tim? Anyone else near there...

Well, in 95, the city finally stopped doing the "Graphitti Night" because too many gangbangers were cruising around, wanting to fight people, and shoot people. Now, me and my friends simply cruise McHenry every friday/saturday night

Anyone know of any Chevy Truck shows on the central coast of California. I live in Paso Robles and am dying to go to a show/swap meet

Your best bet would be to head over to Bakersfield. Didn't the Truckin Nats stop coming to Paso in like 97 or 98? Maybe even sooner. I remember going to the one in 95 I believe. Paso, SLO, At, its all too small. You'd have to head out to Bfield or down to Santa Maria or more likely Santa Barbara.
