15X8 Rallys rub 3" Spindles?
I know this has been covered many times over, but I always get different remarks from people.
I want to run 3" drop spindles with 15X8 stock Rallys. Will they rub? If you say they don't, then what spindles do you have? Does the lower control arm rub the wheel or the tire? Can I simply run a wheel spacer to push my wheel out a bit more? Are there 15X6 or 15X7 stock Rallys that have less backspacing that might work? I plan on running 225/75-15s for a short time. Eventually I will get 225/70s or 245/60s... Thanks, Brandon

When I asked that same question, I was told that they can rub the wheel where the weights fit. Several people said they fixed the problem by grinding off part of the lower control arm. I was not comfortable with that, so I chose to go with Western Chassis 2.5 inch spindles.
I was also told that the 3 inch spindles also will sometimes cause the wheel to rub on the caliper, but I have seen that posted a lot less than comments about the LCA. Slonaker |

my 15x8 truck rally wheels and 3" Bell Tech spindles rubbed. I purchased Camaro/Vette style Rally wheels, 15x7, with one inch less back spacing and that solved the problem.
I do not recommend spacers. You can always shave a little off the control arm, that will solve the problem too.

I am running 3" Bell Tech spindles and 1" springs on my 75 Jimmy with 15x8 rallys and I have never noticed any rubbing. It has been lowered for 6 years or so and I do not recall doing any grinding but then again I am getting old and forgetful. I would go out and look at it but its parked on the dirt and we been getting a lot of rain last few days................plus its parked about 12 miles from where I live now.
I may go out tomorrow to check to see whether we did grind any but I do not recall doing so. Sorry to cloud things up more. Brad

I have 3" Belltech spindles with the stock springs. I tried to install the stock 8" ralleys and they rubbed real hard on the lower lip of the lower a-arm near the ball joint.
I used 6.5" Ralleys from a fullsize van. They had the same backspacing as the 8" wheels, but seemed to have a different profile that didn't rub as hard on the a-arms. I ground some off the lip of the a-arm, but it wasn't extensive. The 6.5" wheels also gave me plenty of clearance between the inner fender lip and the tire sidewall. I put 255/60/15 tires on the front and 275/70/15 on the rear. This gave another 1" drop on the front. Dave |

When I had the 8" ralleys, mine didn't rub. That's seems to be a rarity though.
