what do I have to do to put a v-8 (283) in my 1965 chevy pickup. short bed. I already have a built up 283 ready to put in there. actually its my dads lost and forgoten project and i want to finish it cause I would like it when I turn 16. so what all do I have to do. I am really good with mechanical stuff so I could do it, alot of people think im just a retard 15 yr old.

The 283 should bolt right in place. The exception to that is if that straight 6 was a 292, then you will have to scrounge a passenger side motor mount tower. There should be enough lenght on the engine wiring harness to work. The only other problem I can think of is the radiator. The 6 radiator only had a 2 deep cores and the V8 3 deep core.
