gauges
in my 63 gmc, i can't get the fuel gauge and the water temp to work i can't find any wires that aren't connected if info would help.
i have a 305 v6 that might help. |

Assuming that the wiring is the same as a 63 Chevy. The power for both gauges is a purple wire. This wire goes thru a connector block under the dash, to the ignition switch, and then the engine wiring harness to the solenoid.

Fuel gauge not working
If you ever test one of these don't apply full voltage to the sender directly from the battery, it will fry. Just a thought.
