What did you get done this weekend?

I'm trying to get my new Dodge ready to become a work truck. I sent it to the body shop to have all the handles painted. While they had it, I told them to remove all the emblems. That was a great idea till the shop helper tried using thinner to get the glue off of the bedcover.

It looks like I'll be putting an emblem "back on". They offered to repaint the bed cover, but I figure it would create a nightmare of issues, so I passed....

The cowl cover is HUGE on these trucks. It's about a yard deep, and made from a wonderful black plastic. It's going to be silver too...

This isn't truck related, but it is what I spent all day (and night) Saturday working on. It's a prop for a drama that our Church youth group put on. It's made of fiberglass skinned over a pvc pipe frame. Sorry the pic quality is poor....

well... its been a busy weekend... i decided that it was time to start tearing into the C10. as of right now, im taking a break. 16 bolts, and it will officially no longer be a C10. i stripped the front clip off, removed all of the wiring, and prepared the engine and trans to be pulled. im going to see if i cant get ahold of a cherry picker this week and get the engine and trans out. then to pull the cab off of the C10 frame, im not exactly sure how im going to do it yet. a driveway only wide enough for one truck, and a one car garage to work with is going to make swapping the cab from one frame to the other, considering both cabs will still have beds on them. anybody got any ideas?

i also got a line on a K30 parts truck, and made arrangments to store it at my buddy's house to strip it. so, i'll probably be getting a Dana 60 and 4.56 gears for my truck within the next couple weeks.

All I did was purchase a new power brake booster. I then painted it along with assorted pedal related hardware.

I also raked the yard and went to the GSTA car show at the fairgrounds.

Saturday I drove to Houston and back to get a bed and some other parts for my 70. (about 860 miles round trip). Today some friends and I unload them off my 96 so I wouldn't have my "redneck camper shell all week. I opened the tailgate on the 82 and drove around a while so all the leaves would blow out. Hey, I'm lazy on some things. Dug post holes and set up a new drive thru gate where the new shop will be (soon I hope).

There wasn't a single 73-87 there. It was mostly made up of street rods.

Washed and waxed the truck. Got it all nice and shiney. Realized how bad it needs a good paint job.

Friday, on NO sleep from night shift I went to the Englishtown swap meet. few good scores but pissed that the full nice set of 33'sx12.50's x15's for $100 I went back for already gone. decent dash pad for the 'new' 75 4x4. Burgandy seat belts for the 84. perfect red vinyl seat for the other 75 ,couple of silverado dash bezels. went by OLD RUSTY C10's to pick up the nitrous kit I bought and found out what real rush hour traffic looks like. He didn't have my BBQ ready(only kidding Bob)
Saturday - paintball, unload truck from swap meet. fabbed brackets to install a dodge seat in the 84 .EXHAUSTED, 2 beers and passed out about 9pm.
Sunday- today I lost the wiring to the pioneer radio I asked about how to wire last week -typical day here. .
finished the pulse wiper conversion on it , traced & solved headlight problem.
got most of the interior back in the 84, minus radio of course.. DAVE

oh yeah, speaking of 33 x 12.50s, i test fit the ones that are on my parts truck, on my 91. it appears that they'll fit, if i trim teh back of the front bumper off. and they look SOOOO *****in. i might have to invest in a set of tires for it now...

Ken: you can drive it up to oregon and i'll sand it down and paint it. i am starting to get the hang of this bodywork crap.

friday my one month old cavalier got hit in the rear driver side bumper/qp. roughly 2 grand worth. glad it was not my fault and no one was hurt!!

Here are some updates on the bodywork on the truck. most of the drivers side is done and ready for primer. i also went and got a price quote on wheels and tires. i will be running 22by8 in front with 22/35/255's and in the rear 22by10 with 22/40/325. will a 325 wide tire even fit our trucks with no drop and no mini tub?

Got my final body work started, and got a guide coat down to find all them little low/high spots on the one bed side. Hope to have entire body in final primer and blocked out by Sat/Sun.

Pulled the 289 out of the Meteor and the 200 (straight 6) out of the Mustang.

Now to detail the engines and their compartments and figure out what to do with the 289...might pop the pistons out and hone the cylinder walls and pop on some new rings.

I also have to decide what colour to paint the engine.

I figure, since it's not the original engine anyhow it doesn't really matter anymore if it's the stock colours!

What did you get done this weekend?
LOTS! We finally had two warm days of sunshine in a row! I can't remember the last time that happened. It's been so wet lately...

CHEVY
1. Reflared front brake line with double flare. I remembered I'd only single-flared it before on one end and wanted it done correctly.
2. Finished reconnecting loose tranny lines, elctrical wiring, and oil cooler lines that the doofus mechanics left loose the last time it was in the shop. Tightened loose bellhousing bolt they missed, too.
3. Found seal squished/out of place a bit on noisy front U-joint. I think I'll change it out once again with a Spicer or a joint from GM.
4. Found heat shield above cat was loose and the source of my rattle. It needs a couple of washers around mounting bolt holes, but that's for another day.
5. FINALLY FOUND MY OIL LEAK FOR SURE!!! I sat under the engine while running and after having wiped everything down. It is indeed coming from the factory oil cooler oil filter adapter. It looks like it needs a new gasket and/or seal. Added 1 qt. oil.

BAYLINER
6. Fabricated new fuel line for the 3.0L GM in the Bayliner.
7. Tightened hose clamps and installed drain plugs in heat exchanger and manifold.
8. Replaced missing carb fuel filter and spring with new ones.
9. Inspected outdrive hydraulics for leakage and proper operation.
10. Fired her up and checked cooling system for proper operation. No fuel leaks, either! Fuel Leaks = Explosion potential in a boat...
LET THE BOATING SEASON BEGIN!!! BEWARE ALL YE FISH OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY...

House
11. Mowed lawn, seeded, fertilized, and watered.
12. Laundry
13. Dishes
14. Removed defunct TV antenna from the roof. I've got DirecTV and the didn't work anyway. It was leaning a bit-- the pipe it was mounted on was rusted and cracked more than halfway around! If it had fallen off, it probably would have landed on my Jeep-- not good...

It's amazing how much you can get done when the weather cooperates!

This weekend I took the 350 and gear out of the '86 3/4 tonne at the shop, took it all home in the supertruck and spent all afternoon yesterday trying to get the damn thing off the truck and on my engine stand.

But, because I don't know how to get the torque converter off, it ended up on a stack of lumber.

Yes, I'm a V8 noob. Give me time. I knew there was a reason I hated slushboxes.
