Manual door lock problems...
I've only had my '84 K20 for about a week now, but there's a nasty little problem that's surfaced. I found out the hard way. Apparently when the door is locked, if the door handle button is pushed BEFORE unlocking the door... something gets caught and makes it darn near impossible to get back in the truck. Fortunately my GF is small enough to slide through the back window, roll down the side window for me so I could beat on the inner door handle, pull the knob up, etc. It finally unlocked. The passenger door will NOT unlock (from inside or outside). It's been jammed for a couple dayts now and I'm having no luck at all with it. So I'm thinking it's time to tear into the door panel because I can definitely see myself getting stranded somewhere due to this.
Question is... has anyone here had such luck with manual locks jamming? And it's only when the button is depressed before unlocking it with the key. I sure could use some insight on this one. Thanks in advance! (PS - Otherwise I love this truck more and more each day!)

Maybe its me, or maybe the design has been the same for ever, but I had this problem a lot on my 84 and on my 76. Until, that is, I popped the door panels off (for other reasons) and shot everything with white lithium grease. All the rods, springs, buttons, pivot points, everything. Not a single problem since.

It sounds like the mechanism is catching. Pull it out and lube it like blink32 suggested

I had this problem before too, sometimes it would unlock real easy and then the other times I had to wiggle the heck out of the lock with my key and it would eventually open. So I said screw it, and got shaved door handles. LOL

Well, I pulled the door panel off yesterday and shot everything with white lithium grease, hoping that would cure my problem. Unfortunately it catches just as bad as before. In fact, I couldn't even see what was catching or why. So I guess my only real option is to leave the doors unlocked for now. (I like that shaved handle idea! )
Thanks for the responses!!
