Lift Kit

I have a 1973 GMC1500 Longbed and I want to get a lift kit. Does anyone know a good brand, how long it takes to put it on, and the price? Also I don't know whether to get a 2 inch 4 inch or 6 inch lift... or higher? I will be hauling stuff and also going off road. I like it where you have to step up high to get into it but I don't like it where the tires stick out of the fenders. I am thinking about this hight of this truck here, what kinda lift is that 4? How much would a 4 inch cost with tires like those?

PS. I know it's a FO** LOL

i am assuming that the trucks is a 4x4. and the tires sticking out has mainly to do with the wheel backspacing. but a 4in or 6in pricing wise will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and on the options you choose. check out some sites like www.4wheelparts.com or www.suspensionconnection.com or www.rockymountainsusp.com and check there products and prices to see what fits you best. i would go with a 6in and 35's.

I agree with The Dude...6" Lift with a set of 35's on the 73-87 bodystyle looks GOOD. Also, when you see lifted trucks with the wheels sticking out, it's because the drivers are too stupid to ask questions and do the research when they buy rims. They just say "Mommy/Daddy, I want rims on my truck!" I THINK you'll need 15x10" rims with 6" of Backspacing, with 35"x13½" A/T Tires. I would say for the Lift Kit, and Rims/Tires you'd be looking right around $1500 ($500 for the lift, $1000 for rims and tires.)

Not to thread-jack, but I'm looking into doing a 4 or 6" lift on my 84 K20.... it will see some occassional mud, but that's about it. Question is... is the lift kit with blocks "good enough"? When should one consider the rear leaf springs instead of blocks? I notice there's about $250 price difference..... I'm trying to be cheap but want something 'done right' the first time.

0" - 4" = Block Lift
5" - 10" = Spring Lift
