High Gas Prices P*ss Me Off..

OK, so what if the the price of gas is $2 a gallon here is Wisconsin and I choose to drive a truck that gets 12 MPG (if I don't kick in the 4 barrel)...
The price of gas could go up another buck and I'd still pay it , but I'll ***** a lot.
Which brings me to my soap box topic. Anybody out there into alternative fuels. I'm thinking that alcohol made from grain is the way to go. I also know that it's a popular thought that the oil companies are putting the kabosh on anything that cuts into there business.
Anybody tried an other way to run there old truck.
Just thought I'd plant a seed........

i think grain alcohol is a good idea as well, i would change mine if the availability of the product was better. im a little partial to this idea due to the fact that my parents and about everyone i know is a farmer, but the idea of a cleaner burning fuel that helps the economy is a good idea to me

I think I remember reading somewhere alchol is fine in a mixture with gas. But if used by itself, will cause wear to the rings and stuff. Something about it being so clean and with no oiling properties or something.

It don't matter what we do. If someone comes up with something other than gas, the price of whatever they use will go up. They've got us by the nads on a downhill drag. Everytime you hear of some type of vehicle being created by people that gets outstanding mileage, it's not long before you never hear anything more about it. Who do you think is behind this? I remember way back in the 70's, a couple race engine/car builders built a car and drove it to DC. It got something like 80 mpg. This was a big deal for about a week. After this, I've never heard of it again. Rumor has it the oil companies bought it for a big sum of money with the clause of not saying anymore about it.

Besides, most of the farmers around my parts went the alchol route way back many years ago. The government would give them permits to make the stuff. Well, what did they do? Yep, you guessed it. Started selling it for drinking purposes and lost their permits, not counting the going to jail part.

I could go on a huge rant but I'd rather not..... gas prices are aroung $0.90/Litre up here ($3.60/ Gallon approx.) Whatever It's not like were all going to stop driving... oil companies have us by the short and curlies

Gas prices are up to $1.85 here in Oklahoma. I actually feel fortunate that our prices are usually some of the lowest around. Still sucks though.

Where are you going for such prices ?

I live near your door ( almost... ) and I pay 3,80 € ( 4,75 US$ ) for a gallon of 95 octane ( when I drive on gas...) and on LPG , it costs me 1.080 € ( 1,28 US$ ) for a gallon

I run on 98 octane, it costs 1,32 Euros at the pump here for 1 liter. A gallon = about 3,8 liter so 1 gallon costs 5.016 Euros, which is $6,24 ...damnit even more When I go to the cheapest pump here I pay about 6,10 or so a gallon, maybe 6,00 when I'm lucky.

Gas is MUCH cheaper in Belgium, there's about 20 cents difference in it and I don't live anywhere near Belgium.

EDIT, I checked the actual gas price on shell.nl for the suggested price without any off... it's 1.337Euros for 1 liter 98...AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

the government could step in and lower the prices some but they dont want to do it. between iraq and afghanastan im sure there is plenty of oil to get and plenty of places to refine it there cheap... this like everything else is just a government game.... i know ive already raised my prices twice because of the skyrocketing fuel costs and i inted to keep it up as long as fuel prices raise.. this will wind up hurting the economy more than its already.

93 octane i have to run. i wish i could still get it for $1.85

from what i figure its more of about 10.25:1

but, that wouldnt matter. no matter what i have the timing set to, it will still ping with anything less than 93

ive been trying to look into the propane coversion, but aint really haveing any luck with it....i get 8 mpg at 50 to 55 mph..so i would be really happy with 10 to 12...my gas price here in utah at the local wal mart (lowest in my town) was 1.92 the other day when i put some in....BUT nobody is gonna make me drive anything else...i dont drive it much, but when i want to i do.... i havent pulled my travel trailer yet but i figure if i get 5 to 6 mpg i will be doing good.....oh well thats fine with me....i might sell it, but it will be because i need money for something an not because of the gas prices...but if i can get a job i think im gonna start snatching up big block trucks an cars, because with the price of gas going up, you know the price of cars an trucks is gonna drop down to nothing....i want all i can get... but if i can find a yugo, or somthing that gets beter mpg i will get that so i can drive around town in.... ok im done now.....

GM did well determining the ZZ4 series crates needed 93 octain too. Gotta becareful for detonation.

Good thing I am not driving the truck as gas in the Portland area is $2.17 -$2.37 per gal. for regular unleaded! Good thing I have the Grand Prix with a small six, but even that gets expensive to fill. Filled it yesterday and it was $27! Some weeks ago, a fill up was barely over $20. Cheaper to use the light rail system, but only problem is it takes longer to get somewhere!

I just paid $3.96 per gallon in Columbus, OH.

I returned a rental and had previously agreed to pay for them to refill half of the tank at $1.80 per gallon (total of $14.40).

Well, I brought it back with only 1/8 of a tank, and so I payed $23.94 for the remaining 1/8 of a tank.

Stupid me, I was in a hurry to catch my plane and didn't catch this until today...I called and b*tched, to no avail.

Diesel, guys! Diesel!!

Around here, gas is $1.85 as well. However, diesel is running around $1.59! I filled up on Thursday for $1.58! Plus, I get 20 mpg on top of the lower prices!

But, it won't last forever. Diesel prices are always slower to react than gasoline. When gas jumps up suddenly, diesel stays low and then slowly climbs to meet gas prices. Then, when gas prices drop, diesel stays high, and then slowly falls back down again. I'm not sure why.

But, for now, I'll continue to gloat and be giddy that diesel is still 30 cents cheaper than gasoline!

well on diesel, its 1.59 around here but over the past month it went up higher than regular unleaded and then went back to 1.59 at least here it did. could always fill up at walmart, load a gift card up and use it i think they give a .03 discount for that

You wanna talk about a SOAP BOX. I think we should try and design a new type of fuel and then pull all the SLODIERS out of iraq and just let them have it. let them sell their precious oil to some of them other countries that dont have the amount of drivers or demands for oil as AMERICA does. Maybe then they will appreciate why the SOLDIERS were sent over there in the first place, TO MAKE THEIR FREEDOM. Them middle easterns sure seem ungrateful. we got rid of sadam and now they wanna support a clerak (sp) that looks to me will be twice as bad as sadam. Dont get me worng I have supported BUSH all along and will continue to support him, what are we fighting for over there now, if the people over there are wanting to support this new clerak (sp).

Ok , i stepped down, I know this started out as a post for the gas prices but the blame for the prices are ultimately to blame for whats going on over there. This is my opinion and necessarily the opinion of the broadcast co. :grin:
