bedwood kits
I bought my woodbed and stainless hardware from GMCPaul's. The quaility was super, fit exactly and looks great. I sanded the surfaces lightly and stained the oak with 'Golden Oak' wood stain. I put 3 sanded coats of polyetherane semigloss finish and then a finish layer on that.
I put a good quality wax on the wood once a year. I've had hardwood bed for 3 years in my daily driver, and the deck looks as nice as the day I installed the set. No complaints from me, increases the looks and value of your truck nicely. Dollar Bill |

I have heard nothing but good things about GMC Paul. Another option to check out is Bruce Horkey. They have some awesome wood, but it's not cheap...

I bought composite deck boards from Lowes and did the routing myself. Now they are all the same width and the boards have a 100 year guarantee. They definitely look different but with the stainless strips it looks pretty nice. I don't have to worry about water damage and I am not worried about thowing old parts in the bed.
For those of you with the beautiful oak beds, I found that the local farmers COOP has what they call stall mats (as in horses) that are 4'x8' and made of 5/8" thick rubber. They can be cut shorter with a circular saw. They cost $25 at Southern States. For that price you have a mat that you can through in the bed when you absolutley want to haul something nasty, like that 400 SBC bare greasy standard bore block that you find at a swap meet for $100. Just a heads up. |
