Engine Ready To Fire Pictures of Front Clip

Ok Guys everything is ready to go. We are gonna start it in the morning, here's some pics of where we are.

Can anyone tell me how to hook up the starter? I have the battery and the main line going to the starter. Where do I put the last small black wire. On the "S" post or the "R" post??

Any commenst and suggestions are allways appreciated.

how did you secure what looks to be a piece of PVc pipe or a stick, from the firewall to the core support, becuase i would like ot put the core support in so i can fire up the engine and drive it on the trailer, instead of having to push it everwhere right now, but i needed to get the rockers and cab corners done, and having that core support somewhat supported would help a lot

Starter Wiring (small wire):
I cant see what letter the smaller post is, but its the one closest to the engine.
Another way to put it: The driverside small post.

Yes, put the small wire on the "S" terminal. The "S" stands for start, and the "R" stands for run.

Actually the "S" letter = Solenoid, and the "R" letter = Resistor. The R is there for anyone wanting to run a points ignition with a resistor in the coil + line. The resistor is there to keep the points from frying but is overrided during starting to get a hotter spark. You wire a second positive line from the starter to the coil, overriding the resistor.

Sorry for getting OT. Very nice truck you have, congrats!

I stand corrected. I guess it's a good thing that Start and Solenoid begin with the same letter or I'd have wondered why I couldn't get any of my starters to work.

Engine Bay Progress SHE RUNS!!

OK Guys I finished hooking up everything this morning. Fired it at 11:08 little turned it over a couple times a little shot of starting fluid and she fired right up. Right to idle at 750rpm. 60psi oil pressure. Had a slight knock under the driver side valve cover. After a while we figured out it was the valve cover getting rubbed. I need thicker valve cover gaskets. undid the vaccuum advance plugged it and dialed it in to 10 degrees. Runs PERFECT. No leaks no runs no errors. Gotta finish covering the wiring and thats it fenders go on tomorrow.

I just want to say thanks to all of you. I never would have had the guts to attempt this overhaul. It is from all of your knowledge that I was able to pull this off.

Thanks again,

Tony
