price question
What do you guys think this truck is worth?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 He sent me some more pictures and it has some rust issues, rockers are gone, and a few other places have rusted through. I wanted to buy it but he wants $3,000 , I didn't even pay that much for my all original cheyenne super. Am I just cheap???

a typical case of an unfinished project not being worth the sum of it's parts

cdowns,
thats what I said, but he will not budge off of $3,000, It irritates me sometimes, becuase I do not want an amazing price, a fair price will do, but everyone seems to think they can list it on ebay and get far more than its worth. That truck needs alot of work.

I always get a chuckle, when I hear (ok, its going on ebay) as if its some sorta threat..lol
Ebay, the great equalizer!!!! Most trucks bid to there market value or a little over. Parts are a different story, bidders let there ego get in the way, and cant fathom the thought of losing. If I want maximum dollars for parts, ebay's the only way, cause there's so many idiots bidding the price up the first day of a listing. |

I pull 1000 out for it right now, but i dont think that i would give more than 2 for it. I have learned though, in the past i might have shelled that much out, however. It looks like the body is pretty trashed, other then that it might be a good truck, like most peoples. Jeremy, is this the truck that you would be coming to get if you wanted the part?
At any rate in 7 hours it looks like it will sell for less than 2 or not meet the reserve i bet.

That engine looks like it has more than 30 miles on it.
I'm not a trusting soul. I wouldn't pay 3000. maybe 2000. I'd wait the auction out and see if he's more flexible then.

72dually ya that is pretty much the model I am looking for. My price range is around $2,000 I can pay up to $4,000 but would rather stay around 2.

I would keep looking. I would never buy anything that pieced together unless it was an awesome steal, which that truck isn't. And you never know how good of a job he did putting it on the different frame. Also, since its a '76 automatic chassis, it most likely has a NP203, no thanks.

I tell it like it is buddy, I really dont give a flying- (you Know) what you think of my comments, I try my best to be honest and respectful to all members, yes I screw up at times, but you seem to always have some negative comments on this board and obviously your pea brain is like a b'b in a box car, and you could'nt figure out my point Last edited by 72dually; 06-27-2004 at 10:25 PM. |

Thanks to everyong for the replies, as always you kept me level headed, I really thought this could be a nice truck with some work, but I really only wanted to pay $1,000, but you know how it is sometimes excitment can get the best of you.
1969 GMC I also thought about the NP203 but was going to swap it out with a 205 my friend had, but on the upside since it was a 76 it had the 14 bolt rear, but anyways I will just keep on looking, its been almost 2 years and no luck, maybe I should be less picky

I guess someone thought it was worth 1484 I think that was a decent truck you coulndt build one like it for that
IMO when you can gather a clean truck and build one for what someone is wanting for one already built you would be better off so you know what you have . |

I wouldnt invest in a clone . could turn out to be an investment that will not return what is due .hold on to your cash and stick to something stock, you will do better in the end. price: no more than $2,000.00

He said he would sell it to me minus the fuel injection and motor, what do you think it is worth without the motor, and how much do you think I will spend putting a motor in it?

You could have a lot more options if you put your own motor in and its terribly expensive if you research the options and dont want a fire breathing monster. Tell him youll pay the ebay price for it without motor. 1400.

Just avoid that truck. Do you honestly know how the cab was mated to the later model frame. I also agree that that engine looks to have more than 30 miles on it.
Move on. Watch this board and you'll find a better deal from someone who knows these trucks.

I offered him $700, I feel that is fair, it is half the price it got to on ebay. But I am not going to go a penny more.
Ya there is know way to know how the cab was mated to the later model frame, but for $700 I will take that risk. Besides I already have a nice original truck, I kinda want one to screw around with, and not worry about messing it up.
